TALON Folding LED Lights Launch on Kickstarter
Maven Filters introduces the TALON series: three pocket-sized, folding LED lights with a patented split-arm design and high-CRI illumination.

The TALON series of three pocket-sized folding LED lights launches on Kickstarter on October 13, 2026. Developed over seven years by Michael Andrew of Maven Filters and electrical engineer Craig Rettew, the line addresses a need for portable, high-quality lighting. Michael Andrew said his motivation was simple: "He wanted to stop carrying so much lighting gear around."
The patented design uses a split-arm mechanism with three arms that fold into a single compact bar. Each arm carries two LED panels, giving each light six panels in total. A key feature is that each panel can be articulated independently in three dimensions, allowing for precise light shaping from a very small folded footprint.
Technical specifications and performance
All TALON models offer high-CRI, flicker-free illumination with a claimed CRI of 95 or higher. They use a fanless driver for silent operation and feature stepless brightness control. Power and charging are handled via USB-C, which also allows for continuous operation from a USB power source.
The three models differ in their output and color capabilities. The TALON Pro is a bi-color model, while the TALON Max is daylight-balanced. Both the Pro and Max include a 4,000mAh battery and an LCD status display.
| Model | Color Temperature | LED Count | Output (Lux at 1m) | Weight | Battery Capacity |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| TALON Mini | Not specified | Not specified | Not specified | 178g / 6.28 oz | 1,000 mAh |
| TALON Pro | 3200K to 5600K | 96 | 2,120 | 1.68 lb | 4,000 mAh |
| TALON Max | Daylight-balanced | Not specified | 4,170 | 1.68 lb | 4,000 mAh |
Portability and accessories
Designed for maximum portability, the lights are compact when folded. The smallest model, the TALON Mini, measures 150 × 50 × 35 mm when closed. All models feature 1/4-20 mounting points and a magnetic base for versatile placement.
A confirmed range of accessories supports on-the-go use. This includes the TALON Quick Stand, which extends from 36.5 cm to 205 cm, a Mini Ball Head, Quick Release, Accessory Arm, and a Collar Mount designed for the Pro and Max models.
