Leica's Record Revenue Streak Ends After Four Years
Leica Camera Group's revenue fell 3.8% to €573 million in its 2025/26 financial year, ending a four-year run of record sales.

Leica Camera Group's four-year streak of record revenue has ended. For the financial year running from April 2025 through March 2026, the company earned €573 million ($665.8 million), a 3.8% decrease from the previous year's record of €596 million.
Despite the dip, the company described the result as strong. It cited a challenging market environment marked by geopolitical uncertainty, unfavorable exchange rates, and stricter customs regulations.
Division Performance and Product Strategy
The Photo division was the key revenue generator for Leica. The Mobile division showed strong growth, while the Sports Optics division remained stable. The company also reported positive developments in its watches, accessories, home theater projectors, and eyewear segments.
CEO Andreas Voll linked the business performance to the company's strategic direction. "The company’s business performance demonstrates the Leica Camera Group’s successful strategic direction with innovative premium-segment cameras and efforts around appealing to new target groups," Voll said.
He highlighted several key product innovations introduced during the period. These included the Leica M EV1, the first M-series camera with an integrated electronic viewfinder, the internationally available 'Leica Leitzphone' smartphone, and the Leica Cine Compact 1 smart mini-projector.
A Year of Anniversaries
The financial year coincided with significant company milestones. Leica spent the period celebrating the 100th anniversary of its first camera, the Leica I. It marked the occasion with limited-edition photo products and luxury collectibles. The company also recently celebrated the 50th anniversary of its global network of Leica Galleries.
Andreas Voll emphasized the company's cultural standing. "Leica is a company that stands for precision, craftsmanship, design, and photographic culture like almost no other," he stated.
Market Focus and Future Developments
Geographically, Leica reported particularly strong performance in its domestic German market, which exhibited the most growth of all its regions. The company also noted that expanding its global sales and retail network helped cement customer ties and strengthen its market presence.
The report arrives at a key moment for the heritage brand. Leica is reportedly considering selling a majority stake, a move that would represent a major shakeup. Also, the company is actively developing its next-generation image sensors in partnership with Gpixel.
