Godox P100 dye-sub printer challenges rivals

Godox has launched a new portable photo printer that directly challenges established models from Canon, Instax, Polaroid, and Kodak. The Godox P100 Portable Color Photo Printer uses dye-sublimation technology to produce credit card-sized prints, as reported by Digital Camera World.

Unlike many affordable pocket printers that rely on Zink technology, the P100 employs a dye-sublimation process. This method is noted for delivering rich colors and deep blacks that approach photographic print quality. A laminated top layer protects the finished image from handling.

The printer produces 86 x 53mm prints on 97 x 53mm paper. Its specifications place it in direct competition with other portable dye-sub printers on the market.

Print Quality and Specs

The Godox P100 operates at a resolution of 300dpi. It uses a printhead with 1,256 heating elements capable of rendering 16.7 million colors. According to the source, these specifications put it ahead of some key competitors in terms of resolution.

The source notes that Godox has not stated a specific print speed for the P100, only claiming "quick printing, fast results." This leaves its performance relative to the Canon Selphy's reported 40-second prints and the Polaroid Hi-Print's 60-second prints unclear.

Design and Connectivity

With dimensions of 142.5 x 86.8 x 26.8mm and a weight of 320g, the P100 is designed to be portable.
